Jama Masjid
It is the one of the best mosques in the world and this is the largest mosque of India, which was built by Mughal emperor Shah jahan. This majeatic mosque is set on the a high platform and is reached by steps on the north, south and east. In Jama Masjid about 20,000 people can pray together at same time. Jama masjid is built in red, white and black stone. Jama masjid was the last work of emperor Shah jahan. The rectangular prayer hall had the magnificent façade of arches decorated with marble frames and inscribed panels. The towering minarets of Jama masjid dominate Old Delhi; a climb to the top of the minarets provides an excellent view of the city. Jama masjid is flanked by two minars, built in alternate vertical strips of red sand stone and white marble each contaning 130 steps. There are three gateways in the Jama masjid, east gateway being the largest. Each gate is made accessible by long wide flights of stone steps , 30 steps facing the north gate, 35 steps are facing the east gate and 33 facing the south gate.

Old Fort (Purana Quilla)
The supposed site of Inderparashta, the magnificent capital of the Pandavas of the Mahabhartha and original city of Delhi is old fort or purana quilla, built on a small hill which once stood on the bank of Yamuna river. Majestic in conception, it’s massive rubble walls are pierced by three imposing gateways. The citadel was partly raised by Afghan Sher Shah Suri , who temporarily deposed Humayun. Sher shah, who made a major contributions to the public works, built the Quila Kunha mosque, the fine example of the artistry of indo-Afghan school and the Sher Mahal within the citadel in 1541. the purpose of the latter is not quite clear though it is thought that Humayun housed his library there. He fell on it’s step stairs while answering the call to prayer and died as a result three days later
